This Privacy Policy explains what TrialReel (trialreel.app, the TrialReel iOS app and the TrialReel connector for AI assistants, operated by Elliot Goldman) collects, why, who we share it with, and your choices. The short version: to edit and post your videos we store them on our servers and send them to a few service providers, including AI providers. We don't sell personal information, and you can delete everything at any time.
Who we are
Operated by Elliot M. Goldman d/b/a Trial Reels, 5420 N Ocean Dr Apt 604, Riviera Beach, FL 33404 · (720) 301-0288 · Not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
1. Your Instagram connection
When you connect Instagram, you authorize TrialReel through Meta's official login. We receive an access token for the Instagram professional account (and, if you connect through Facebook, the Facebook Page) you select, plus its Instagram user ID, username and follower count. We use the token only to:
- read the list of reels on your account, their captions, and their video files, so they can be used as source videos;
- publish edits as trial reels on your account, as scheduled by you or by Autopilot;
- read performance insights (views, reach, likes, comments, shares, saves, watch time and similar) for your reels and the posts TrialReel published.
We never read your direct messages and never see your Instagram password. Depending on your settings, Instagram may share a well-performing trial reel with your followers.
TrialReel's use and transfer of information received from Meta APIs adheres to the Meta Platform Terms and Developer Policies.
2. Information we collect
- Account. Your email address and a user ID. You sign in with a one-time code we email you, or with Google or Apple. Authentication is provided by Supabase. We also store your plan, its status and renewal date, and your settings.
- Your videos and what we make from them. Reels we pull from your Instagram, videos you upload, videos in a Google Drive folder you share with us, and clips you film in the app (the app uses your camera and microphone only while you are filming). From these we create working copies, transcripts of what is said, cut lists, edited versions, captions and scores. Edited versions are stored on our servers so Instagram and other platforms can fetch them for posting, and so you can download them.
- Your Brand Book and chats. Your editing rules (the Brand Book), the reference reels you share, your feedback on edits, scripts, and your messages with the in-app editor, the Pip assistant and Copilot.
- Voice data. If a voice clone is made for your account, see section 4.
- Other platforms. If you connect TikTok, YouTube, a Facebook Page, Threads, LinkedIn or X, we store the access token that platform gives us, your account ID and name there, and the results of the posts we make.
- Payments. On the web, Stripe collects your name, email, billing address and card details; we never see or store your full card number. We receive from Stripe the plan, amounts, subscription status, the email you used and Stripe's customer, subscription and checkout IDs, so we can turn on your plan and honor refunds. In the iOS app, Apple handles payment; through RevenueCat we receive your subscription product, status and dates, linked to your TrialReel user ID. We never see your Apple payment details.
- AI assistants. If you connect TrialReel to an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, we store the connection (a key tied to your login) and a log of each request it makes to TrialReel.
- Free reel scorer. If you use "Score my reel" without an account, we keep the uploaded video for up to 24 hours and then delete it; the score itself is kept. We store a hashed (not raw) form of your IP address to limit uses per day. If you enter your email to unlock the fixes, we add it to our email list.
- Email list, referrals and feedback. If you sign up for our weekly email, we store your email address (you can unsubscribe at any time). If you use an invite link, we record which referral code brought you, so the person who invited you can be rewarded. If you suggest a feature, we store your suggestion.
- Contact. If you email us, we keep the email so we can reply.
- Server logs. Our hosting providers (Vercel and Supabase) record standard information such as IP address, browser type and the pages or functions requested, used for security and to keep the Service running.
Our website loads the Google Ads tag (gtag.js) so we can tell whether people who click our Google ads go on to sign up or buy a plan. It may set cookies from google.com and share your click and page-visit data with Google under Google's privacy policy. Our pages also load Meta's pixel script, but no pixel ID is set, so it sends no events to Meta today; if we switch it on we will update this policy. We do not run any other analytics or tracking pixels, and we do not sell personal information.
3. Cookies and local storage
Two kinds of storage are used. First, the Google Ads tag described above may set advertising cookies (for example _gcl_au) to measure ad conversions; you can opt out at Google Ads Settings or by blocking third-party cookies. Second, TrialReel keeps you signed in with an authentication token in your browser's local storage, and uses local storage for a few preferences, for example:
sb-*-auth-token— your sign-in sessiontr_cookie_ok— that you've dismissed the storage notice- screens you've already seen, your chosen home screen, and an invite code you arrived with
The local storage is strictly necessary for the Service to work. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings. Clearing it signs you out; your plan and data stay on your account. Stripe's checkout page and the Google Fonts we load may set their own cookies under their own policies.
4. Voice clones
TrialReel can voice an edit in your own voice using an ElevenLabs voice clone. A clone is made only when the account owner asks for one and consents; we record who consented, when, and their note. The clone is made from short samples of your own speech taken from your videos, is sent to ElevenLabs to create the voice, and is used only to voice that account's TrialReel videos. A voice clone can imitate your voice, so we treat it as sensitive: we never share it or use it for anyone else. Deleting your account deletes our record of the voice; to have the voice itself removed from ElevenLabs, email us and we will delete it there.
5. Agencies and managers
If you join an agency in TrialReel (or approve a manager's access request), the agency's owners and managers can see your connected account's videos, schedule, posts and results, change its settings and Brand Book, make and post edits, and open your dashboard as you, within the permissions you agreed to. We record your consent and log every action they take. You can remove their access at any time in the app's Settings. If you are an agency, you must only add accounts whose owners agreed.
6. Staff access to your account
To operate the service, provide support and enforce our Terms, TrialReel staff can access and manage your connected accounts and content inside TrialReel — for example, viewing your queue, results and Brand Book, pausing or resuming posting, changing schedule settings, cancelling or retrying a post, and adjusting your plan. Staff never see your Instagram password, and access tokens are not shown in our admin tools. Every staff action is recorded in an access log.
7. How we use information
To run the Service for you (edit, schedule, post and measure your videos, and learn from your results what to make next for your account), to turn on and bill your plan, process refunds, respond to you, send the emails you asked for, keep the Service secure, measure our advertising, and comply with law. We do not use your videos or data to train AI models of our own, and we do not use your information for anything else.
8. Sharing
We share information only with service providers who need it to run TrialReel, and when required by law:
- Supabase — accounts, sign-in, database, file storage and our backend. Sign-in code emails are sent through Supabase Auth (and the email delivery service connected to it).
- Vercel — website hosting and the servers that render and cut videos.
- OpenAI — transcribing speech in your videos; writing hooks, captions, scripts and Brand Book notes; judging and scoring edits (this includes still frames from your videos); the in-app editor, Pip and Copilot chats; and the "ChatGPT pass", which sends finished video files and their captions through OpenAI's API before posting.
- ElevenLabs — AI voiceovers, music, the optional spoken voice of Pip, and voice clones (section 4).
- HeyGen — rendering some edits (the video, its captions and on-screen text are sent to HeyGen to produce the final file).
- Meta Platforms — Instagram publishing and insights through the official API, and Facebook Page and Threads posting if you connect them.
- TikTok, Google (YouTube), LinkedIn and X — only if you connect them, to post the edits you send there and read their results.
- Google — Google sign-in, Google Fonts, reading a Google Drive folder you share with us, and ad measurement.
- Stripe — web payments. Apple and RevenueCat — in-app subscriptions on iOS. Apple also provides Sign in with Apple.
- AI assistants you connect (for example Claude or ChatGPT) — receive the TrialReel data their requests ask for, under their providers' policies.
Each provider processes data under its own terms. If you joined an agency, that agency also sees your account's data as described in section 5.
9. Retention
We keep your account data, videos, edits and history while your account is open, so you can download your edits and so the Service can learn from past results. Removing an Instagram account from TrialReel deletes its connection, access token and settings; stored video files, its reel list and your posting history stay until you delete your account. Deleting your account removes everything listed on Delete your data; we keep a short record that the deletion happened. Free-scorer uploads are deleted after 24 hours. Payment records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request. Local storage stays on your device until you clear it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under GDPR and California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can delete your account yourself in the app at any time; for anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell personal information and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Children
TrialReel is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
12. International users
TrialReel is operated from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the US and by the service providers listed above, which may process it in other countries.
13. Changes
We will post any changes here with a new "last updated" date.
