Best tools to schedule Instagram trial reels

Most schedulers can now publish a trial reel. They differ on price, limits and what else they do. None of them make the video for you, which is the part that actually takes your time.

Prices and features below were read on October 31, 2026. They change often, so use the linked page before you buy.

How to choose

What every scheduler leaves out

Instagram's help text, as quoted by Planoly, says a trial may get limited reach if Instagram detects that you previously shared the same content. A scheduler happily publishes the same file twice. It does not warn you, and it does not make a second version. So the bottleneck is not the calendar. It is having enough genuinely different edits to fill it.

Where TrialReel fits

TrialReel is not a scheduler. It makes new edits of videos you upload: a different opening, a different ending, a tighter middle, with no text added to the video. Plans are priced by new edits a day: Basic $49 a month (5 a day), Autopilot $99 (you pick 1 to 10 a day), Autopilot Plus $249 (15 a day to start, up to 25). The first week is $9. Today: new edits of your videos every day, ready to download. Auto-posting to Instagram is open to invited testers while Meta finishes reviewing our app.

If you already pay for a scheduler, the edits can be downloaded and scheduled there. There is no integration with Buffer, Later or Metricool.

When you should not pick TrialReel

If you already have plenty of finished videos and only need a calendar, a scheduler is cheaper and simpler. Buffer's free plan, Metricool's free plan or the Instagram app will do the job.

A short checklist before you pay anyone

  1. Open the tool's trial-reel help page and confirm it supports the Trial option today.
  2. Check whether the plan limits posts per month, and whether reels count toward it.
  3. Check whether you need collaborators on trials. Several tools cannot do that.
  4. Run one test trial reel before you move your whole schedule.

A ten-minute test before you commit

  1. Start the free trial or free plan of the tool you like.
  2. Connect one Instagram account that has the Trial toggle in the app.
  3. Create one post with a single video, set the Trial option, and choose manual sharing.
  4. Schedule it a few minutes ahead and watch whether it publishes as a trial. Check the reel in Instagram afterwards: it should not show on your grid for followers.
  5. Only then move your real schedule over.

This catches the common surprises: a tool that quietly publishes a normal reel, a plan that counts reels toward a monthly cap, or an account Instagram does not treat as eligible.

Fill the calendar with different edits

TrialReel makes the new edits a scheduler cannot. Score a reel free first, or start with the $9 first week.

Quick answers

What is the best tool to schedule Instagram trial reels?

It depends on what you need. The Instagram app is free for one reel at a time; Buffer, Later, Metricool and Planoly add calendars and multi-network scheduling. None of them make the video.

Do schedulers make the video for me?

No. They publish the file you give them. TrialReel is different because it makes new edits of your videos.

Can I use TrialReel with Buffer or Later?

There is no integration. You can download TrialReel edits and schedule them in any tool you like.
