Trial reels not showing up? Here's why

Updated September 29, 2026 · TrialReel

There are two different problems people mean by this, so let's take them in order.

Problem 1: The Trial toggle isn't there

You're on a personal account

Trial reels need a Creator or Business account. Switch under Settings → Account type and privacy. It takes 30 seconds.

You're under 1,000 followers

Hard requirement. See the full requirements.

You haven't got the rollout yet

Instagram releases the feature in waves. Update the app, force-close it, and check again in a few days. There's no way to request it.

You're posting from the desktop or a third-party tool

The toggle lives in the Instagram mobile app's share screen. Scheduling tools that publish through the API can set trial status, but many haven't added the option. Post from the app to be sure.

Problem 2: The trial reel posted but got almost no views

It's been less than 24 hours

Trial distribution is slower than a normal post because Instagram is finding strangers to show it to. Judge at 24 hours, not 2.

It's a near-duplicate of something already on Instagram

Uploading the same file twice — or a file with a different caption and nothing else changed — gets deprioritized. Instagram wants originality. Change the opening seconds, the color grade, the timing and the on-screen text. That's exactly what TrialReel generates, so a re-test looks like a fresh reel rather than a repost. More in how to repost a viral reel.

The hook doesn't stop strangers

Your followers give you three seconds of goodwill. Non-followers give you one. A reel that worked with followers can die in trials because the first line assumed context. Fix the first line, re-test.

You're looking in the wrong place

Trial reels don't show on your grid to followers and won't appear in your normal feed. Find them under your profile → Reels → the Trials section, or in insights.

Turn a reel you already posted into a trial reel

Drop the reel into TrialReel, get a new version with a fresh hook, color and timing, and test it on non-followers. Nothing is uploaded — it renders on your phone. $10 per trial reel.

Common questions

Why did my trial reel get 0 views?

Usually it's too early (wait 24 hours), or the reel is a near-duplicate of an existing upload and got deprioritized. Change the hook, color and timing and try again.

Why can't I see the trial toggle?

Personal account, under 1,000 followers, an old app version, or the rollout hasn't reached you yet. The first three you can fix; the last one just takes time.

Where do trial reels appear on my profile?

In the Trials section of your Reels tab, visible only to you. Followers don't see them on your grid.
